Under Florida Statute 468.8419, a mold assessor or the assessor's company may not remediate a building it assessed in the last 12 months, and a mold remediator or its company may not assess a building it remediated in the last 12 months. State-certified general, building and residential contractors are exempt. Some companies offer both services, so if one tests your home, hire a different company to do the work.
Assessors write the protocol; remediators carry it out. When those are different companies, neither profits from the other's findings.
